Criticising Catholics for hating gays? It's a blow to their human rights, so it is

Bloody Catholic loonies are at it again. They're complaining that being criticised for hating gays is somehow against their human rights. They feel they have a human right – a human right – to vilify gays and declare all same-sex relationships disordered, no matter what harm it does by the toxic message it sends.

A Reuters report tells us:

People who criticise gay sexual relations for religious or moral reasons are increasingly being attacked and vilified for their views, a Vatican diplomat told the United Nations Human Rights Council on Tuesday.

Archbishop Silvano Tomasi said the Roman Catholic Church deeply believed that human sexuality was a gift reserved for married heterosexual couples. But those who express these views are faced with "a disturbing trend," he said.

    Note, it's a Vatican Diplomat saying that.

    First of all, why does the Vatican still get to pretend it's a city-state?

    Second of all, the church hierarchy is far out of touch with their congregants. For example, here in RI > 50% of Catholics support marriage equality.

    Imagine!

    Whatever it is we're all doing it's obviously working!

    These vatican guys and their sympathisers are sounding more and more desperate and sillier and sillier as the years and months go by.

    While I know he'll have some (African and other) sympathisers at the U.N. (there are people there who want the right to summarily execute us remember) there is a pretty reliable majority who support GLBT rights - and I'm proud to say that this currently includes not just the European Union but also our own government here in the UK.

    (And I never thought I'd be saying THAT about a government with a majority Conservative Party element in it!)
